Our Umpiring Pathway

Umpiring is a vital skill that develops quick thinking, confidence, and a deep understanding of the game. The Saints are committed to building a vibrant umpiring department where everyone feels supported and valued. Our program is spearheaded by our Umpire Coordinator, Shona Neilson, and Suzie Cash, an experienced B Badged umpire. Their combined expertise ensures that all our umpires receive high-level mentoring, from learning the basic rules to mastering advanced match control.

We are specifically looking to grow our ranks with fresh faces and experienced whistles alike. We highly encourage our teenagers to pick up a whistle for the first time—it’s a fantastic way to build life skills and stay involved in the sport. Likewise, we welcome parents and community members who want to contribute to the club’s success. Whether you are aiming for your next badge or just want to help out on a Saturday morning, Shona and Suzie are here to provide the guidance and encouragement you need to succeed.

We are incredibly fortunate to have a wealth of expertise guiding our mentors, led by our dedicated Coaches Coordinator, Rob Leonard, alongside Alex Rosenbaum from Netball Coaching Clinics. Together, they provide structured training sessions and ongoing hands-on support to ensure every coach—regardless of their starting point—feels confident and empowered on the sidelines.



We are calling on our entire community to get involved. If you are a parent with a passion for the game, an experienced coach looking to give back, or a young player eager to learn the ropes of mentorship, there is a place for you here. Coaching is a rewarding way to strengthen our community and help our players grow both on and off the court. No prior experience is necessary to get started; all we ask for is your enthusiasm and a willingness to help our athletes thrive.
